What's new in GymOrbit — May 2026 release notes
Faster device check-ins, a redesigned dashboard, and three changes our customers asked for the most this quarter. Here's what's shipping.
⚡ 60% faster ZKTeco check-ins
Median time from a member tapping the device to seeing the confirmation light is down from 800ms to ~320ms. Under the hood, we moved the access-policy check to a Redis-cached layer so the device round-trip skips the database hop for the 99% of members whose subscription hasn't changed.
📊 Redesigned admin dashboard
New top row puts your three most-watched numbers — active members, MTD revenue, today's check-ins — front and centre. Each one drills into a focused view instead of a separate report. The old dashboard is still there under View → Classic if you prefer it, but we expect to retire it in August.
🙌 Three customer-requested changes
Bulk freeze for class series
You can now freeze all members on a class series in one click — useful for studio closures during holidays. Previously a 30-click chore.
SMS templates with merge fields
The renewal reminder, freeze notice and welcome SMS now support
merge fields ({{first_name}}, {{plan}},
{{expires_in}}). Available under
Settings → SMS templates.
CSV export on every list
We added a CSV export button to every list view — members, payments, attendance, invoices. The button uses the current filters, so what you see is what you get.
🔧 Bug fixes & small improvements
- Fixed: ZKTeco serial-number search was case-sensitive on the access-control page
- Fixed: salary-sheet PDFs occasionally truncated long staff names
- Improved: subscription-log page loads ~3× faster on accounts with 5,000+ historical entries
- Improved: backup retention now defaults to 30 days (was 7) on all plans
What's next
We're working on member self-service from a browser (no app download required) for the June release — letting members renew, book classes, and update payment methods themselves. If you'd like early access, ping us.
As always — questions, requests, bug reports — please send them. Most of what shipped here came directly from customer requests last quarter.
